Education has been at the core of Phare Ponleu Selpak’s mission since the beginning. Today, Phare Ponleu Selpak divides its education program into two parts:

Formal Programs

Public School

Informal Programs

Child Development Center

Cambodian Public SchoolThe government run public school at Phare Ponleu Selpak has room for 1000 children and teenagers from primary to high school.  Regular training is provided to the teachers in order to maintain the quality and standards of teaching.

Since 2013, the Education department has run a kindergarten for our youngest students. Though kindergarten is not traditionally part of Cambodian schooling, Phare Ponleu Selpak believes it is an important step for young students. The kindergarten at PPSA has the capacity to welcome 225 children between the ages of 3 and 5 years.

Founded in 1998, the Child Development Center offers diverse activities for the young people of our community. Over 200 children and teenagers take part in leisure programs and workshops.

This center provides a safe space for children outside of school and allows parents to focus on their own development.

Cambodian Library

In the library young people can read and study quietly. They can participate in reading and learning activities organized by the librarian. The library is filled with books in Khmer, English, and French; and computers with internet access.

The Education Department also offers a tutoring program free of charge for teenagers. It’s an opportunity for them to reinforce their Khmer, English, literacy, or computer skills.
