(born 1986) moved to Phnom Penh from Kandal province, graduating with a degree in
Information Technology in 2005. He then pivoted his career from video editing (2004–2008) after

photography course offered by the French Institute of Cambodia at the time, already called Studio
Images.
Since 2010, Philong has served as a teacher and main facilitator at this predecessor of today’s Studio
Images school. He gained extensive field experience as a photojournalist for the Phnom Penh Post

Today, Sovan Philong is a foundational figure in Cambodian photography, serving as the President of
the Photo Phnom Penh Association and the Director of Studio Images – House of Photography.
