Chankrim was born to a disadvantaged family in Banteay Meanchey, Cambodia. He migrated to work in Thailand as a laborer, to support his family. After attending the vocational training at Phare Ponleu Selpak (2007- 2012), he became an independent artist and has since exhibited his artworks locally and internationally.
