Trapeze workshop

On February 10th, we welcomed an outstanding trapeze teacher Sophie Mandouux from Les P’titsBras troupe from France who has training in the art since 13 years of age. Nowadays she is a famous artist in France, and gives seminars and trainings in many different countries around the world. Sophie gave a one-month workshop in Corean Cradle and Aerial Cradle to four of our independence artists, Sophak, Sopat, Hieng, and Tina who are from the autonomous group called Piyop Cirk Association. This training has helped to empower and strengthen the artists to be able to create new performances for national and international audiences.

European Union Project

Developing a comprehensive and multi-angle model of youth detention centers’ rehabilitation services ensuring human rights respect for all is a way to strengthen the young “people who use drugs” (PWUD) to become a conscious group of the civil society. Therefore the achievement of the specific objective is to provide 400 young detainees of detention centers with access to their rights enhanced by actions regarding psycho-social support, legal aid, and the mobilization of 20 detention centers personnel; it will allow the accomplishment of the overall objectives:

- The living standards of the detainees in the drug education Centers (DECs) in Battambang have improved according to their rights.

- Detainees’ rights are acknowledged and owned by all stakeholders (detainees, families, DECs personnel).

- Tools and techniques for the rehabilitation of detainees are developed and implemented.

Training for the project will begin February 13, 2010.  Artists will begin work in two local detention centers during the first week of March.
